NWPL: DELTA QUEENS PICK FIRST AWAY POINT, HAILS OKOWA FOR SUPPORT

Delta Queens on Wednesday at the confluence Stadium Lokoja, pulled a barren draw against Confluence Queens Fc to pick its first away point for the season in the Nigerian Women Football league, NWFL.

In a post match chat with Delta Queens Media, The coach of Delta Queens Fc, Coach David Ochei said defeating high flying Bayelsa United in match day 5 and subsequently picking a point away from home is an indication that the Delta Queens side which he noted is a work in progress is begining to fit in.

Ochei also known as ‘coach Powerful’ also hailed the commitment of the Chairman Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa for his selfless efforts and commitment towards ensuring the team remains one of the best in the nation’s female Apex League.

“Although our target was all possible three points, we make do with what we got. It is our first point away from home and we intend to consolidate this with results ahead.”

We had a better outing in the second half after many misses in the first. Quite unfortunate we did not score to crown our effort, but that is football for you.”

We must appreciate effort from the Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa who has been a pillar to the club.”

Speaking in same vain, Delta Queens Hand on goal and the skipper of the side said it is a new lease and the players are more committed to give the best for better results.

“We thank God we picked a point away from home and we hope for better achievements as the league progresses.”

The two sides took time out to size each other with the Visitors Delta Queens calling the shorts more often.

An Amarachi and Dominance led Delta Queens forward however failed to put the ball across the net of their host before they were substituted by new girls Abbey Peace and Grace Obi, with Racheal Okotete also coming in, in the second half.

The second half was a cracker as both teams came out smoky but with no goal however to compensate for their efforts as the game ended in a goalless draw.

With the draw, Delta Queens who had the Chairman Sports Commission, Delta State, Chief Tonobok Okowa to cheer the team all through 90 minutes of play in the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, got her first point on the road this season in the Nigerian Women Football League.

Delta Queens will next host Fc Robo of Lagos at the Agbor township stadium Agbor in Match day 7
