Sadiq Umar’s brace not enough to secure maximum points for Almeria

Super Eagles forward, Umar Sadiq swelled his LaLiga Segunda goal tally to 18 as he scored twice in Almeria’s 2-2 home draw again Real Oveido on Saturday.

Sadiq’s goals on the night has also pushed Almeria to third on the Segunda log.

Almeria could have taken the lead in the opening 12th minutes when Corpas Sema missed from the spot.

Sadiq was however employed to take the next spot kick awarded to Almeria which he dispatched past Oviedo keeper in the 22nd minute.

The Olympic silver medal winner got his second eight minutes later as he finished off a through pass from Sergio Akieme.

Oviedo staged a remarkable comeback in the second half when Ghanaian youngster Samuel Obeng scored in the 54th minutes.

Sadiq was then denied his hat trick few moments later Oviedo keeper, Joan Femenias made himself too big to thwart his goal bound effort.

Simone Grippo completed the comeback for Oviedo with five minutes to end the game.

The sleeky and lanky forward has been involved in 21 league goals for Almeria (18 goals, 3 assists) making him the third top scorer in LaLiga II.

The former AS Roma and Partizan Belgrade striker also has two cup goals.

He is currently the highest scoring African in Spanish Segunda.
