It was gathered that the suspects met their waterloo Wednesday while making effort to snatch a motorcycle from an Okada Rider with their usual trick.

They were arrested at Ebogogo Community in Adavi Local Government area of the state.

The suspects were identified as;
ThankGod from Kaduna State, Bello from Edo State, Abdullahi Musa from Gombe State, Zahamarudeen AKA (Yellow) from Zamfara State, and Mr. Solomon from Edo State.

They confessed to have been responsible for motorcycle snatching in Kogi Central axis.

They also added that, their operation hideout is along Auchi road, where they normally lured Okada Rider to and forcefully snatch their motorcycle.

The suspects also admitted that the motorcycles found in their possession were stolen from Okada Riders and many have been sold out at the rate of #30,000 each.

The Gang leader, Mr. ThankGod while fielding questions from journalist when they were being paraded by Adavi Local Government chairman Hon. Joseph Omuya alongside security agencies present said ” We have been in this motorcycle snatching business for a long time.

” Since the economy is not friendly, we have to survive. We normally use tricks on Okada riders to snatch their bike. Each bike we steal is usually sold between N25,000 to N30,000 depending on how urgent we needed money. When ever we sell the bike stolen from our victim, we share the money among our selves”.

Addressing journalist on government effort to comb the hide out of robbers and kidnappers in the Local Government, the Executive Chairman of Adavi LGA Hon. Joseph Omuya warned that the Local Government will not be a safe haven for criminal elements in the state.

” All criminal elements should vacate our State. We are coming out hard to get them no matter where they are. Kogi is not a state for criminals” he added.

He urged the residents of the Local Government to continue to support and cooperates with Security Agencies in providing accurate and timely information about the movement of suspicious persons in their domain.

Items recovered from the suspects include; three motorcycles, locally made guns, speaker and generator set.

Not fewer than eight Local Government Areas in Kogi State will participate in the maiden Ajanah Memorial Basketball Championship slated to kick off on Monday  in Adavi, Okenne, Kogi state.

Over 80 great basketball players were at the match venue on Sunday when the draws for the 15th edition was made by the Local Organizing Committee.

This year’s championship started by Stakeholders Meeting where captains of the teams, coaches, referees and members of Local Organising Committee deliberated on the way forward and draws held at the venue.

A minute silent was observed for late icon, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, the founder of the annual basketball competition after which jerseys were distributed to the participating teams in readiness for today’s openers.

According to the fixture, match-day 1 will witness six matches where Ajaokuta Local Government takes on Kogi at 8 am, Ogori Magongo slugs it out with Adavi at 9:00am.

At 10am, Okene will lock horns with Lokoja while Idah versus Okehi takes the center stage at 11am.
Ajaokuta face Okene at 4pm and at 5pm Ogori Magongo play their second game against Idah.

The sports firm which is an affiliate of Kogi State Football Association also Honorable Salami for his exemplary leadership and good governance in the local government council.

Director of Success Tiyu, Abubakar Musa, described the award as “ground breaking”, ading that, in the history of Kogi State, this is the first time a Football Club (Kogi Pillar FC of Adavi LGA) will be honored with a league (NLO) slot for their excellent performance.

He pointed out the Administrator’s effort to nurture, add value and elevate Kogi Pillars FC, formerly known as Nagazi Man-city, to the current admirable level which made them perform beyond expectations during the competition.

I have to give glory to Almighty God that the Seed I planted sometimes ago has germinated after being nurtured and adorned by all, not only within the shores of Adavi land but beyond Kogi State.

As a sports lover and a man who believes in sportsmanship, I promise to continue to be the vanguard of youth’s development through sponsoring of sports activities to engage them in meaningful form as great players and future leaders.

The role of sports sport in nation building is one of the most unifying factors in spite of our diversities is sustaining our unity in Kogi State and Nigeria, which is quite glaring. Therefore I will continue to be a pillar of sports in my own little ways.

Salami dedicated the award to the Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello for given him the opportunity to serve Adavi people as the Council Administrator.

He called on Adavi electorate to come out en masse on the November 16th, 2019 to vote massively for the re-election of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello and his running mate, Chief Edward Onoja to remain in Lugard House till 2023.

He also appealed to the electorate to remain peace ambassador before, during and after the governorship election.
