The National U20 school boy player, Onuche Ogbelu has graduated from Fosla Academy in Karshi Abuja after completion of his six years Secondary School education.

The graduation ceremony which was held during the week, saw the defending and attacking midfielder graduating along with other students from the Academy.

Reacting on his graduation from the Academy, an elated Onuche who was 18 years in May, said “I am really excited. I will want to say that I am leaving the Academy with double Honours. I was able to successfully complete my senior Secondary school program, having joined the Fosla Academy in the 2016/2017 Academic Session.

“I was also able to be among the privilege few players that represented Nigeria at the U. 20 level, winning a place for the AFCON U.20. I count myself privileged because many never believed that a secondary school student can make an impact at that level “.

Continuing, the Ibaji, Kogi state born player said” I remain appreciative to our father, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi for his selfless role in building a future for very many of us. I must always thank the U20 Head Coach Dr Ladan Bosso for believing in me, and giving me the rear opportunity to serve Nigeria.

“I remember vividly my debut match against Cote D’ivoire, in the semi finals of the WAFU B U20 Championship, when he called me up just few minutes to end the match, with scoreline at 1-1, and gave me confidence, directing that I should go into the field, and stabilize the team. It was there I realized that he had a lot of confidence in me. I thank God I did not disappoint him “.

He was also thankful to all members of the Fosla Family for being there for him with their prayers.

On his next plan after graduation, he said” I will return fully to my team Fosla FC to help them in our quest to gain promotion to the Nigeria National League, from there I will wait for what God has in stock for me ” he concluded.

Flying Eagles ‘School Boy’, Onuche Ogbelu at the just concluded WAFU Zone B U-20 African Qualifiers held in Niamey, Niger Republic on Thursday presented his gold medal and jersey to the Proprietor of his school Fosla Academy, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi.

Onuche who was described as a ‘game changer’ by the Head Coach of the U. 20, Ladan Bosso is an SS3 Student of the Fosla Academy.

He has since returned to school to join his mates for the on going Senior Secondary School Examinations.

Receiving the medal and jersey, the Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi congratulated the player for doing the country proud, and positively projecting the school in the tournament.

He expressed his happiness on the performance of the player in tournament, and promised to support him in ensuring that his career blossom in the nearest future.

He encourage him to remain steadfast and discipline in his quest to attain greatness.

Onuche Ogbelu thanked Alhaji Lulu, describing him as a father of exceptional quality that takes pride in seeing to the success of his children. He promised to bring smiles to the faces of the Fosla Family.

Onuche is an integral member of Fosla FC participating in the NLO Division 1 League. He is also the captain of Fosla Academy team.

Nigeria Premier independent football academy, Fosla Academy was on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 attacked in Karu, a satellite town in the federal capital territory, FCT, Abuja.

The attack occurred at the Government Day Secondary School, Karu venue of the zonal playoff of the 2nd edition of Maltina School Athletic Games with three students of the academy injured.

The attack was carried out by two unidentified students who are from the host school, GDSS and as well as Junior Secondary School, JSS Karu.

The two students who were obviously angry over Fosla Academy’s feats after they won four events at the zonal qualifiers, attacked the academy bus, injured three students and damaged the bus’ glasses.

The presence of the proprietor of the Academy and former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF; Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdulahi was not regarded by the unscrupulous hoodlums who evaded arrest and disappeared from the premises when the police arrived.

The police promised to track down the pepetrators of the attack and bring them to book.

The three players who where injured sustained various degrees of injuries including Aisha Mohammed who was hit on the head by a stone thrown by the two misguided students.

Sumeya Usman sustained injuries on the left knee from broken glasses while Faruk Umar was injured on the back after a heavy stone throne by the miscreants hit him and he fell on the ground.

This is the first time Folsa Academy, headquartered in Karish, few kilometers away from Karu, is being attacked since inception in 2011.

It is hoped that the Nigeria Police will be professional to fish out the pepertrators of this heinous act and bring them to justice.

Fosla Academy is established to help indigent but talented Nigerians to discover and nurture their football talents at the same time focusing on their education.

Seventy-five per cent of the over 150 students in the academy are on scholarships, courtesy of Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdulahi.
