NPFL: Gbadebo set to return against struggling Adamawa United https://www.onwardnews24.com/npfl-gbadebo-set-to-return-against-struggling-adamawa-united/ https://www.onwardnews24.com/npfl-gbadebo-set-to-return-against-struggling-adamawa-united/#respond Fri, 11 Jun 2021 10:20:29 +0000 http://www.onwardnews24.com/?p=5466 Kennedy Boboye’s Akwa United have faced multiple injury problems in the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season. However, the coach has somehow managed to keep things on track with the injury problems ongoing at the club.

Things are talking a positive turn as many sources in Uyo are suggesting that Samson Gbadebo could be back for the game against Adamawa United next week.

The consistent Gbadebo is currently injured and has missed games against Wikki Tourists and Heartland. The club’s best centre-back will also play no part in the top of the table clash with Kano Pillars on Sunday.

As of now, it is understood that the defender has been doing everything in his power in order to make an early return. Gbadebo has been training extremely hard over the last few days in order to make a swift recovery and reports suggest that the centre-back could potentially feature against Adamawa United at the Nest of Champions.

Akwa United are on top of the NPFL log with 49 points from 26 games.

NPFL21: Boboye targets Kwara United’s scalp in Ilorin https://www.onwardnews24.com/npfl21-boboye-targets-kwara-uniteds-scalp-in-ilorin/ https://www.onwardnews24.com/npfl21-boboye-targets-kwara-uniteds-scalp-in-ilorin/#respond Tue, 12 Jan 2021 06:25:49 +0000 http://www.onwardnews24.com/?p=3595

Following Akwa United’s 2-1 victory over Abia Warriors at the weekend, head coach Kennedy Boboye has hinted that his boys are charged up to record their second win of the season when they engage Kwara United in Ilorin on Wednesday.

Coach Boboye who heaped praises on his players after their first win of the season explained that the victory over his former team was a divine turnaround that his team needed to kick start their campaign.

In an exclusive interview with the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.com Boboye revealed that his team is on course for more victories.

“Our victory over Abia Warriors is a big motivation for us and it’s coming at the right time. We are determined to build on that win as we continue to push for more victories.

“The celebration of that victory ended after the match and our concentration and focus is now on Wednesday’s match against Kwara United.

“Last season, Kwara United came to Uyo and picked all three points. Due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic we didn’t have the opportunity of playing the return fixture, that is why this game is very important and trust me, we are on a special mission to Ilorin.

“It’s interesting to see that teams are picking vital points away from home, and we don’t want to miss out on it. Hopefully, we will pick all three points and record our first away win this season in Ilorin on Wednesday” Boboye conclude.

With one win, one draw and one defeat in their opening three matches, the Promise Keepers are 11th on the NPFL table with 4 points and will take on Kwara United in mid-week on Match-day 4.

In the last eight meetings between the two sides, Akwa United and Kwara United have recorded three wins apiece while two of those encounters ended in stalemate.
