The sponsor of Nimrod6Nineteen Talent Hunt, Engineer Musa Nimrod has charged volleyball coaches across the country to meaningfully engage youths in their various community and spread the news of volleyball in schools.

Nimrod stated this during the closing ceremony of the Nimrod6Nineteen Talent Hunt at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS), Kaduna state on Sunday.

Nimrod who doubles as the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) revealed that in the past, the country possesses tall players like Tony Oghuma, Thomas Aroko, Dennis Eleri, Emmanuel Jatto and many others but there is a huge gap yet unfilled

The North West Zonal Representative on the board of NVBF advised coaches to visit schools in their various locations in order to identify players who are above 6ft.

He said, “I am using this medium to call on Nigeria Volleyball Coaches in the country to engage our youths through volleyball. You will discover these days that most children are not interested in sporting activities due to their school calendar. The only way to bring their mind back is by going to schools and identify these talents.

“If you go to North Africa, most of their players are above 6ft and we all saw that during the U19 and U21 African Volleyball Championship Nigeria hosted. In the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000, Nigeria had tall and intimidating players but the narrative is different. This is a wake up call to coaches and stakeholders that we need to do more”.

Nimrod advised the young players of Nimrod6Nineteen Talent Hunt not to relent in their training after they get to their various destination.

He said, “The coaches that handled you during the Nimrod6Nineteen Talent Hunt are some of the best handlers in the country. Do not relent when you get to your various destination because they have given you solid background knowledge of the basics of volleyball”.

Meanwhile, the Head Coach of COAS Spikers, Elishama Elam commended the players for their commitments and dedication during the exercise.

Elam said the some players have the potentials of becoming good players if given the necessary attention at their various training centers

The coaches engaged during the Nimrod6Nineteen Talent Hunt includes; the Chairman of Nigeria Volleyball 🏐 Coaches Association, Elishama Elam, the Head Coach of Nigeria Correctional Service, Adamu Nitte and the Head Coach of Kada Emeralds, Vincent Unogwu.

The Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Sports and Youth Development, Mallam Attahiru Ibrahim has commended the initiative of the maiden edition of Kwara Inter-Secondary Schools Volleyball Championship.

The former Patigi volleyball player described the championship as a watershed which will help discover more talents in the State.

“This is indeed a great development. I believe that the competition will afford us the opportunity to discover more talents that will do the State and the Country proud in the nearest future” said the Philanthropist.

In the same vein, the management of La Planet Sports Academia has donated a giant trophies to the cause of the championship.

The trophies, according to the Tournament Initiator will be savoured by the first and second positions team in the tournament

Appreciating them, the Initiator of the Programme who is also the Media Officer of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Dare Kuti thanked SA Sports for his financial contributions and the management of the La Planet Sport Academia for supporting the initiative with trophies.

“We are really appreciative of their gesture and for identifying with this project. We believe it’s a common goal to see that we provide opportunity for our youths- and their support will go along way towards achieving success in the programme”.

A total number of Eight teams will be rolling out their aces for the championship billed for Wednesday, June 8th to 10th at the Indoor of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Nigeria women’s team is through to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Beach Volleyball Qualifiers in Agadir, Morocco.

Nigeria will face The Gambia today in one of the quarterfinals in its bid to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic next month.

Nigeria face Cape Verde in a great Pool B showdown; both side enforced power, technique and skills but it was Nigeria who steal the show in the golden match after a hard fourth 2-1 win.

The final phase of the CAVB Continental Cup for women will includes Morocco, Mozambique, Egypt, Rwanda, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria and Cape Verde.

Meanwhile, Nigeria men’s team has crashed out of the beach volleyball qualifiers despite beating Mali 2-1 in the third Pool B match.

In pool B Kenya set a ground breaking victory over Mozambique in one of the competition’s best face offs which extended to a golden match after Mozambique won the first match 2-1 before Kenya neutralised winning 2-0, then they won the tiebreaker 2-1. Kenya and Mozambique qualified, while giants Nigeria were eliminated.

The top eight line up confirmed at the Men’s Continental cup after Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya, Mozambique, Ghana, Egypt, Gambia and Rwanda made it to the single elimination chart after they finished on top 2 position in each of the four preliminary pools.

The Head Coach of Nigeria Beach Volleyball Teams, Francis Imoudu has named the final 8 squad that will be representing the country at this month’s Tokyo Olympics Qualifiers in Morocco.

The squad was named on Friday before the team set off to the Qualifiers in Morocco which kicks off on 20th June, 2021.

Imoudu said Francisca Ikhiede, Tochukwu Nnoruga, Amarachi Uchechukwu and Albertina Francis will represent the country in the women’s category while Obayemi Ogunshina, Hilary Simon, Emmanuel Chidebere and Emenike Ezike are in the men’s category.

The Maiduguri based coach said he will be assisted by former Nigeria Beach Volleyball player, Kayode Ajilore who is well traveled.

He said, “The players have been in the right frame of mind ahead of the Tokyo Olympic Qualifiers.

“We just ended our 3rd phase of the camping exercise in Badagry and the next assignment is to bring home the sole ticket in the men and women categories”.

Imoudu stated that Team Nigeria is not intimidated by the profile of other African opponents adding the nation parades some of the best pairs in Africa.

Nigeria beach volleyball players, Obayemi Ogunshina and Tochukwu Nnoruga promised to give their best when the nation files out to compete for the sole ticket to the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The first phase of camp exercise took place in Kaduna while the second phase happened in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

Honourable Famous Daunemigha has declared his intentions to run for second term as the South South Representative on the board of Nigeria Volleyball Federation.

He told newsmen in Yenegoa that his second term will be filled with grassroots programs in the South South Zone.

Hon Daunemigha said he will not stop supporting and promoting the game of volleyball in the south south zone and Nigeria in general.

He said, “As you all are aware that I have invested freely in the game of Volleyball so many times in several occasions and will still do even much more.

“I may not have played volleyball professionally, but I bet us that I have loved this game so much and have done so much for its growth and development even more than many that played it actively. I will not stop supporting and promoting the game in my geopolitical zone andNigeria in general.

“My comrades of south south, I Hon. Famous Daunemigha once again presenting myself to represent you as your south south zonal representative in the NVBF board. Having learnt so much from my first experience at the board, I promise to deliver far more better dividend to our game in the south south zone”.

He hailed various volleyball stakeholders for their support in his first term.

The Chairman Osun state Volleyball Association, Prince Babatunde Omisore has declared his intention to run for board member of the South West in the Nigeria Volleyball Federation.

Prince Omisore made his intention know on the heels of the dissolution of the board of 31 National Sports Federations by Nigeria’s Sports Minister, Chief Sunday Dare on Friday.

The Ex International said he intends bringing hope, rebranding and resuscitating the original southwest volleyball.

According to him, My name is Prince Babatunde Omisore, a Nigeria former international and Southwest volleyball player groomed from Old Oyo State.

“Having watched from afar the current situation of our southwest zone volleyball in totality, it becomes imperative that southwest volleyball needs urgent help.

“The southwest volleyball zone parades the highest numbers of ex-internationals around the world. Obviously Southwest volleyball program has virtually gone into coma.

“In light of the current situation, I hereby offer myself to represent southwest volleyball on the board of NVBF by contesting in the forthcoming zonal election following the Federal ministry of sports release of guidelines. Be rest assured that I bring hope, rebranding and resuscitating the original southwest volleyball “.

Prince Babatunde Omisore currently serves as Nigeria volleyball Ambassador diaspora, a consultant to Mikasa USA (Olympic/FIVB volleyball Equipment Manufacturer) and consultant to Mizuno Shoes and apparels Manufacturer.

He is the first Black African to play professional beach volleyball in United States of America (USA) and introduced beach volleyball sports to Nigeria and Africa in 1991. Omisore is a FIVB Stage 2 certified coach

The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Nusa Nimrod has called on all Nigerians to support the Nigerian Customs Service ahead of their forthcoming historic semifinals match.

Nigeria Customs Service will face CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in the second semifinals match of the ongoing 2021 Women’s Club African Championship by 8:30pm on Wednesday (Today).

The NVBF boss said the Federation will do everything on its own part to support the 2018 National Club champion at the semifinals.

Nimrod urged Nigerians to support the team which will help the team to be at their best instead of putting pressure on the team.

“We expect Nigerians as before to support the team in all the ways they can because that is what they need right now and not that they should put pressure on the team.

“I also know that Nigerians pray a lot, so I also expect that they pray for the team to succeed in Egypt, those that are able to go and those that will stay at home,’’ he said.

Hama Bachama of Numan Federation, His Royal Majesty Homun Daniel Shaga [Kpawo Nomwe, Gilongo Diya] has urged youths to embrace peace through volleyball.

HRM Shaga who is the founder of Volunteer for Sustainable Development Inc. said the 2nd edition of Numan Federation Volleyball Unity Cup will help in reuniting the community and strengthen their bond.

The Royal father said the platform will also be used in promoting ideals of peace in the community.

He said, “Some of the objectives of the championship includes; using the gathering of spectators as a platform to promote the ideals of peace and communal harmony and to promote a platform for discovering/nurturing of talented players.

“It will also feature recognition and honouring of veteran volleyball players (dead or alive) as well as outstanding sportsmen and women from the state”.

Meanwhile, plans have been concluded for the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod to grace the finals of the 2nd Numan Federation Unity Cup Volleyball Championship and give the Keynote address.

The 2nd Numan Federation Unity Cup Volleyball Championship is scheduled to take place from 22nd to 24th April, 2021 at Government Secondary School (GSS), Numan.

The 2nd Numan Federation Volleyball Unity Cup (men and women) is scheduled to hold from 22nd to 24th April, 2021.

Hasso said the renovation of the court became paramount in order to assist the sponsors of the Numan Unity Cup.

The former chairman of Nigeria Police Force Volleyball Association told volleyball enthusiasts to expect a rejuvenate Numan Championship.

He said, “We have started the rehabilitation of the volleyball court that will host the 2nd Numan Federation Volleyball Unity Cup as a way of encouraging sponsors of this Unity Cup.

“The Numan Cup is one of the biggest volleyball event in Adamawa, so it became paramount for the court to wear a new look”.

He further said, “The best players in the state will participate in this year’s edition and lovers of the game should expect explosive performances from all the teams”.

Rtd DCP Hasso commended the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod for distributing balls and net to the organisers of the Numan Unity Cup.

He said the Engineer Musa Nimrod will grace the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of Numan Federation Volleyball Unity Cup.

The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod has donated 111 balls and 24 nets to 24 States Volleyball Association in Nigeria.

Nimrod made the donation at the final of the women’s volleyball event at the 2020 National Sports Festival in Benin City, Edo state.

He said the balls and net are meant for volleyball players who do not have access to equipment in their various states.

Nimrod told the 24 Director of Sports in the country to ensure the balls is utilized by the end users.

He said, “I am donating a total of 111 balls and 24 nets to 24 states including the FCT. The North East and North West are not captured because I learnt they made their own arrangements.

“These balls are not for decoration in the various offices, they are meant for players to play on the court in order to have access to quality facilities. I am optimistic that the various directors will utilize the equipment because the players will represent their states in subsequent competitions”.

Receiving the balls on behalf of the Acting Chairman of Chairmen, Kaduna state director of sports, Yakub Ibrahim commended the President of NVBF, Engineer Musa Nimrod for his contributions to the development of volleyball in the country.

Ibrahim said the various directors of sports will ensure the players in their respective states use the ball for training.
