Chairman of Bauchi State Football Association, Patrick Pascal (MON) has been honored with an award of recognition for his immense contribution to the development of sports, especially grassroot football in Bauchi State and beyond.

This honor was bestowed on Pascal, who is equally the present team Coordinator of Nigeria’s apex national team by the Wife of Bauchi State Governor, Her Excellency, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed at the final of YSFSON U-15 Soccer Tournament over the weekend.

The ex Shooting stars of Ibadan player, Patrick Pascal (MON) described the award of recognition as one of the motivating factors to do more in grassroots development, while praising Her Excellency, for her consistent support on Sports- Developmental programs within and outside Bauchi State

“As an ex international, I was part of the beneficiaries of Grassroot football development during my playing days. Since I became the FA chairman, I vowed not to underestimate the power of youth engagement through sports, especially football event as this is an avenue for us as Football Association to annex these talented players together.

“This award means a lot to me but as a leader, I have dedicated it to Bauchi State Football Association. It’s really historic for me to be honored by the Wife of Bauchi State Governor, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, I am grateful for recognizing our good work even though, this award would spur me to remain focused in my quest for talent discovery across Bauchi State ” Said Patrick Pascal.

“Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed has been a major support system for YSFSON programs, not just in Bauchi State but also outside; In fact, her desire in talent identification is peerless amongst women who are showing interest in same project.

“She is very connected to the youths at all levels and have patience to listen to their hue and cry on what they hanker for hence, with unflinching commitment to support programs that can help achieve the dream and vision of these talents” Pascal revealed.

Patrick Pascal (MON), has been changing the facet of football structures in Bauchi State since he assumed the position few years ago.

Meanwhile, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed believed the restive youths of Bauchi State need to be properly engaged through sporting programs across the State and chronologically, Her Excellency has been described as a Fillip to sports men having sponsored different football events through YSFSON programs across the Northern states; The wife of Bauchi State Governor has persistently been giving total support for this cause and course respectively.

The office of the Nigeria Pillar of Sports has presented a giant trophy for the 15th edition of the Kwara YSFON Commissioner of Police football tournament.

In a brief event which held at the Police headquarters on Monday in Ilorin, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, Nigeria Pillar of Sports noted that the gesture is a fulfilment of his commitment to Kwara State Police Command in all its activities.

“The office of Nigeria Pillar of Sports is here again today to make this presentation and reiterate our commitment using sports to curb youthful exuberance and juvenile crime in the society while also helping the youths in developing their talents” said Chief Ejidike who lauded the force for securing life and properties.

Speaking at the event, an elated Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Mr. Tuesday Assayomo described the moment as a wonderful one and applauded the Office of Nigeria Pillar of Sports for complementing and cooperating with the command in all its activities.

In his own remarks, the Chairman of YSFON in Kwara State commended Chief Ejidike for his philanthropic disposition and promised to sustain the legacies of the tournament which has now become a veritable platform to engage the youths.

The finals for the tournament across three different categories of U17 Boys, U13 Boys and U17 Girls will hold on Tuesday, August 30 at the Kwara Football Academy pitch in Ilorin.

In a release signed by the National Secretary Olorogun Patrick Okpavuerhe and made available to journalists, YSFON says its highly committed towards adding value to the profession of grassroots coaches in the Country

Okpavuerhe revealed that the Coaching Clinic is an important ingredient in the life of the coaches, since their effort is the tonic youth footballers need to excel in their chosen career

equip Nigerian Coaches with modern techniques at the grassroots and effective Knowledge on robust talent hunt and management

All Zonal Vice Presidents and State Chairmen have been directed to choose formidable venues especially centers with fully equipped facilities like Stadia, good pitches,decent accommodation, lecture halls,training kits, T-shits and writing materials for all participants.They will all be presented with certificates at the end of the three months event

Going by the release, the programme will kick off in the North West on the 26th-29th of October, North East 3rd-4th of November. North Central 9th -10th November .South-West 16th-19th November while South East will round off from 23rd -24th of November

YSFON Technical Director Alhaji Abdulgafar Agboola has promised that the TTT programme will afford the Grassroots Coaches the Opportunity to meet their seasoned colleagues and brighten their chances of growth in their chosen career.

The nation’s foremost grassroots sports organising body says the youths are very critical to nation’s building and must be given their rightful place in national discourse. It insists that adequate support and regular counselling should be given to them in their choice of future career to enable them contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development

National Secretary of YSFON Chief Patrick Okpavhuere in his reaction observed that despite the challenges,sports still remain a veritable tool to gainfully employ and engage the Nigerian Youths.He therefore called on the Government and Corporate Organisations to create attractive opportunities for the youths to exhibit their talents and make a meaningful living

The secretary laments the unfortunate trends in our national lives today where the Nigerian Youths have been relegated to the background and very old people refuse to give way or allow the Youth to function accordingly.This he says is dangerous for National growth and progress

YSFON however believes that no matter how discouraging things are today ,there is still hope and in the face of despair there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
