The Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin has perfected plans to embark on electronic learning amidst the scourge of novel Coronavirus that has left the whole world paralized.

The Public Relation Officer (PRO), Academics Staff Union of the College (COEASU), Isiaka Kola Saka dropped this hint during a chat with newsmen in his office, recently.

According to him, “all is set for the e-learning initiative of the college as the management of the college have perfected plans for its take off.’

“The provost of the college, Proff. Yusuf AbduRaheem has reliably informed me as PRO that there will be an online exercise very soon and this platform will be equivalent to what is obtainable in our contemporary institutions.

“You agree with me that there is a relative progress in the academics activities of our college. As an academic union, we have approached the provost on several occasion that what should be done as alternative means of resumption.

“And he has briefed me that the college would likely go online as soon as academic activities resumes. That exercise will be such put in place in tandem with other contemporary institutions,” Saka said.

He added that the college has witnessed uninterrupted academic programs in the recent time owing to the forthrightness of the new Governmment in the state under the leadership of Mall. AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq.

“It’s a two edge issues. One the Kwara State Government and the management of the college. The Goverenment of Mall. AbdulRaham AbdulRazaq is a listening one and that would have been attributed to the none strike we witnessed in the recent time.

“The past Government have been very wicked to us. They were so wicked to the extend that salaries are not paid unless we go to the street. But with this Government, our salaries are paid as at when due.

“Two, we give kudos to the provost of the college because if we had a government that is willing and again have a dignitary that is myopic and hypocrites, maybe some of the good things the government want to implement might be jeorpodised, so the provost deserves commendation.

“As soon as monies is release, he pays. The provost has been transparent to us the staff of the college. Each time he had meeting with the government, he come back and feed us with their outcome,” he stressed.

Saka further said that the arrival of the provost of the college has heralded new initiative and vibrant policies which has laundered the college’s image positively in the public.

“No doubt, the provost has improved on the welfare of the staff, the infrastructure of the college and he has dealt with the issue of indiscipline among members of staff as this has gone to improve their productivity.

“Prof. Yusuf AbdulRaheem has come here to introduces so many vibrant policies in such a way that it has succeded in laudering the college’s image in the public domain.

“Prior his assumption of office, you will agree with me that we have so many problems and challenges which includes, non payment of salary in the past, non-implementation of our allowances as lecturers, the issue of dilapidated class rooms, even our offices as lecturers is not different from people selling at Baboko market.

“So these problems have been settled under the new college regime. We give the provost credits for this.

“As an academics, we want to be greatful to this government. We want to appreciate our provost and our sisters union because we have fougt against the tyranny of the past government.

“We thank God today that our salary has been fully paid, though we still have more to demand like our allowances, our offices, road networks in our college, the hike in the tuition fees of our students, improvement in hostels and the contemporary issue of covid-19 that will support our proposed e-learning method,” he concluded.
