COVID-19: NGO Begins Sensitisation of Kogi Communities on Safety, Preventive Measures

An NGO, Youth Initiative for Peace and Development Multi- Purpose Cooperative (YIPD), has concluded arrangement to embark on sensitisation program to educate the people of Kogi State on safety and preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19.

Speaking with newsmen In Lokoja on Friday, the Executive Director of the NGO, Mr. Lawrence Kyuka, said that YIPD was embarking on Community Awareness & Advocacy Program In Kogi, in Partnership with the State Ministry of Health under the leadership Of Hon. Dr. Saka Haruna Audu.

According to Kyuka, the aim of the program is to sensitize the good people of Kogi State on safety and preventive measures against the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and Other infectious diseases.

He stressed that people will be adequately sensitised with knowledge transfer on Skill Acquisition Sanitation, Healthy Living & Safety.

Kyuka appreciated the efforts made by Governor Yahaya Bello led Administration in ensuring that Kogi State remained COVID-19 free.

He explained that a well thought out schedule had been put in place, to carry out the program across the 21 local government areas (LGAs) of Kogi State, while maintaining that all safety guidelines layed down by the Federal Government & Kogi State Government would be strictly adhered to.

He further commended the efforts of the Kogi State COVID-19 Squadron Committee led by His Excellency, Chief Edward David Onoja, who doubled as the Deputy Governor of the State, in maintaining an effective and Responsive Team.

He noted that first phase of the program would commence on Saturday, June 20, at Ajaokuta Local Government Area.

He, therefore enjoined the people to support the state government’s effort in keeping Kogi State free of Covid-19.
