COVID19: Kogi Govt insists no case in the state

… Accuses NCDC of suspicious move

The Kogi State Government has affirmed that the moves of the National Center for Disease Control at recording two cases of Covid-19 virus for the state remained suspicious, insisting that the State was free from the virus.

This was made known on Saturday in a press statement signed by the state’s commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Haruna.

The State Commissioner narrated that the purported case based on its investigations was a 62 year old man and his son from Kabba LGA of Kogi State.

According to the narration given by the son, the father, who was Hypertensive/Diabetic had attended a burial ceremony where he was stung by bees, developed facial problems from the sting and was taken to the Hospital.

He mentioned that the facial swellings subsided but the body weakness persisted where eventually the managing Doctor discovered he had High Blood Sugar, which the Doctor continued to manage.

The Doctor who were treating the patients confirmed that there was no time the patient presented with fever, cough or difficulty in breathing and the only complaint was that of general body weakness.

The Commissioner raised that one needed not dig deeper to see the handwriting clearly written on the wall at how desperate NCDC was to nail Kogi State with a Covid-19 case and there was no telling how low they are willing to stoop to do so.

He asserted that despite claim that the patient was positive as he hasn’t been taken to an Isolation center as at the time of the briefing he was still at the National Hospital, Abuja

Dr. Saka noted that despite the fact that we rejected the fictitious cases, the government have gone ahead to do contact tracing to identify all those who came in contact with them, tested them and they all came back negative and they will be retested in the next 14 days post first contact.

He mentioned that Nigerians needed to start asking NCDC what they stand to gain by manufacturing fictitious claims and attaching them to States and how eager they were to announce confirmed cases, a situation that has had them coming out to apologise publicly.

The Commissioner opined that the state would let the public be the Judge having laid down all these facts affirming that Kogi State had nothing to hide, but would continue to insist that it would not be a part of any fictitious scheme by a Federal body upon whom Nigerians put so much trust.

He assured that there were both video and audio evidences for all claims mentioned, which for good reasons are being held on to, till it becomes a necessity to share them to the public.
