Former Super Eagles goalkeeper reveals secret behind winning Albania league

Head Coach of newly crown champions of Albania Premier League, KF Tirana, Ndubuisi Agbo has ascribed his side’s historical feat to self dedication, commitment and divine.

Tirana won the Albania top division league on Sunday after a remarkable turnaround of success by Agbo.

The former Super Eagles goalkeeper guided Tirana to a league record of 12 matches unbeaten after rising through the ranks of technical department of the team.

Agbo will be making history as the first Nigerian coach to qualified his team for the UEFA Champions League.

The ex goalkeeper of Tirana who was featuring as guest on Nigeria’s Number One Sports platform on WhatsApp, Nigeria Sports Mouthpiece, NSM Rebranded on Monday said the challenges his side faced earlier spur them to success.

“The huge factor to winning this league is God almighty, without His prophecy it wouldn’t have been possible to achieve it, and of course the commitment from everybody in the team, self dedication, because my team and me succeeded in breaking many records in Albania league.

“We were up to 17 games unbeaten in the league before we lost in the 18th game, no coach or team has even done that for more than 30 years in the Albanian football. I’m also the first foreign coach to ever win the league with the biggest league in the country, that is after coming from so many point different and 12th on the league table is also another record we set,” he said.

“Of course we went through many challenges from injuries to key players and of the break in the league, but we used all to motivate ourselves to give more individually and collectively.”

Asked how he was able to managed an European clubs after being a goalkeeper of the same, Agbo said its down to his strong character and his true profesionalism.

“Wherever you work, be in a company or football club, you have to be a dedicated person, a man of good character you have to leave your footsteps on a sands of time, that was exactly what I did when I was playing for the team.

“And when I left, and they (Tirana) saw what I was doing in other team as a coach, I was invited to come knowing fully well that I have the mentality, philosophy and character this team need, and I was given the opportunity from the goalkeeping coach to assistant and then to come and take over the leadership of the team.
