It’s a new dawn for education sector in Kwara State – Fatimoh Abdulrazaq

The Kwara State’ Commisioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Ahmed Fatimoh Abdulrazaq has disclosed that the sector would witness a new dawn following some steps embarked upon by the government.

She stated this during a chat with our repoter in her office, recently.

According Hajia Abdulrazaq, ‘the present administration in the state under the leadership of Governor Abdulraham Abdulrasaq has taken the bull by the horn to reform the educational sector having inherited a distorted system from the previous government.’

“Yes, it is a new a dawn in the educational system of the state. We want to change the narrative entirely.

“We are hoping that before the end of this pandemic to call for education summit where will be able to address problems facing education sector and proffer logical solution to it. With this, the hitherto rots in the system will be corected,” she said.

Continuing, ‘before my assumption of office, I knew a lot about the educational sector, the challenges are enormous. One of the challenges is the dilapidated of schools across the 16 local government area of the state’.

“The teachers prior now are not well placed on training in order to increase their capacity, part of which we have taken paramount since assumption of this administration.

“Also the Governor has been taken lots of steps which includes the rehabilitation of schools, giving books to the students among others.

The Honorable Commissioner added that her ministry is keen towards monitoring contractors handling the rehabilitation of schools across the state.

“Regarding the ongoing rehabilitation of schools, we have the project monitoring team from the ministry of education and what they do is to monitor the activities of the contractors, charge them where lapses are discovered and indeed we haven’t had any issue with them.

“The school rehabitation cuts across the the three senatorial districts as we have about 27 school under rehabilitation presently,” the commissioner stressed.

Hajia Abdulrazak however described her new position as an avenue to service the people of the state having had a long years of experience as a teacher.

“Sincerely teaching is what I love passionately because I belived if you are into teaching, you will acquire more knowledge. So to me, it’s not a task. It depend on how you handle it”, she concluded.
