Kogi Government shut down four substandard clinics, maternity

Four below standard health clinics and maternity have been closed down for operating without registration by the Kogi state government.

Two of the clinics located at Zariagi in Adavi LGA; Royal Clinic, Prime Care Clinic in Lokoja and Hilltop Clinic in Ajaokuta Local Government Areas.

During the inspection, five auxillary Health personnel were arrested and detained at the Nigeria security and Civil Defense Corp in lokoja for further investigation.

Speaking on the development, the team leader for the ministry of health, Stephen Akeh- Oluwarotimi Said the clinics were closed down in the past and wonder why the health facilities re open without due process.

Doctor Ake noted that the operation would serve as a deterrent to other quack Doctors who were out cause damages to the citizens.

He warned operatives of such Health facilities to desist forthwith as government would not hesitate prosecute offenders.

According to him, the present administration under governor Yahaya Bello has worked tirelessly to reduce the suffering of the people through the provision of health needs of ordinary citizens.

During the inspection, owners of the clinics at the Skills Clinic Zariagi, Doctor Yahaya Ogirima, Hilltop Clinic Ajaokuta, Doctor Natheniel Peter and that of Royal clinic Zariagi Kabba junction, Moses John were not available for questioning by the Health Officers from the ministry at the time of this report.
