Organizers reveal how Covid-19 affect 2020 Kwara Independence Cup

The outbreak of Coronavirus has affected the staging of this year’s Independence Cup.

The tournament is organized to celebrate the Independence Day and it is honoured by various professional firms in Kwara State.

Four teams participated in the previous edition with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service KWIRS winning the tournament.

Speaking on this year’s event, the organizer of the tournament, Mr. Shogo Shodunnke cited the outbreak of Coronavirus and the ban placed on football as the reasons the tournament will not be held this year.

“It is impossible to organize the tournament this year due to the impact of COVID-19 on the economy of the country.”

“Also, the ban on football has not been lifted so it is not legal to play any tournament.”

Nigeria Bar Association, Nigeria Medical Association, Banker’s Forum and Kwara Internal Revenue Service participated in the last year’s edition.
