WTD2020: Ashiru reiterates his commitment for tourism development

As the international community commemorates World Tourism Day 2020, themed “Tourism and Rural Development” to appreciate those that are involved in the development of rural communities through tourism.

Senator Oyelola Ashiru, the Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District has reiterated his commitment to tourism development in the district.

He made this known in a press statement made available to the news men in Ilorin, where the senator appreciates the natural architecture of Kwara South and also he highlighted the nature that bestows the district.

“It is an indisputable fact that Kwara South is blessed with beautiful tourist sites; the ‪Esie Museum which is the first museum in Nigeria, and the largest collection of soapstones in the world, the magnificent height of Owu fall, which measures about 120 meter, the highest fall in west Africa, the aesthetics view of Imole-Boja cave, and the terrific water fall of Eroomola”. He highlighted.‬

Recall that the senator sometimes embarked on a visit to all tourist sites in the district, the visits he tagged “salesmanship trip” that birthed the bill for the Establishment of University of History, Archeology and Education, to be sited at Esie. In the same vein he sponsored 200 youths, tourists and researchers to explore the tourist sites in the district.

In furtherance to his passion to develop tourist centre in the district, ‪there is inclusion of tourism development in 2020 Budget, which is upgrade and development of Owu Fall, and upscaling of Eromola Water fall”. On completion, this will attract more tourists and private investors and it will generate more revenue for the government. ‬

‪The later part of the statement therefore called on tourists and prospective investors to explore and to foster tourism in the district.
